Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony, Earth. However, the dangers they face are many, which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to the Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space and their infiltrator units carrying out sabotage–eventheir former unwitting pawn, Gaius Baltar, helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought–the fleet also faces internal political conflict in which the rabble-rousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice, not to mention recurring shortages of food, water, and even oxygen. In the midst of these trials, however, clues begin to appear to suggest that Adama's bluff about finding Earth might hold more truth than anyone could have guessed.

i have never liked sci fi and to be honest im still not a big fan but when my brother forced me to watch an episode of battle star galactica i was addicted. It has everything; guns, robots, romance, big fat spaceships, tragedy, drama, crime, and mysteries that are actually solved!(im looking at you Lost). It tackles political issues like Class, terrorism and martial law. I never make comments on IMDb but everyone has to see this show because it is so much more than just another science fiction star trek rip off. WATCH IT ! thats pretty much all i have to say. If you still don't think you will enjoy it watch it anyway! i probably haven't done it justice. I just think its a huge shame that such a great show hasn't enjoyed the popularity of some frankly terrible programmes
After I watched Firefly get yanked off of TV to be replaced by yet another trailer trash reality series, I despaired of ever seeing some really good sci-fi television with a great story line ever again. And then along came BSG, this isn't kiddy television, it's gritty no holds barred adult drama with real life issues caused by insane circumstances. Since all the characters aren't stunningly noble or diabolical geniuses, I can see how so many of the less than witty on these boards feel the need to bash it, it's just too real for them to be able to cope with in there black and white good vs. evil worlds. However if you're an adult who understands that good TV means people actually acting like people would in these type of circumstances, and don't' spend all your time complaining because the characters are different than a series with the same name that's was extremely short lived and was on 20 years ago then you'll probably love this show, I know I do.
